Type of operation
Explanation: Over the years, wooden shutters, exterior shutters and outdoor window frames accumulate several layers of matt paints, deteriorated wood stains or copal varnishes that tend to flake and blacken. Manual sanding or orbital sanding requires hours of tiring work, creates a great deal of dust and often cannot reach reveals, adjustable slats, internal corners and the joints of the frame, leaving patches of old paint behind.
Why it happens: Constant exposure to UV rays and humidity degrades the protective paint film, causing it to lose adhesion. Using liquid chemical paint strippers or heat guns can burn the wood, stain the fibre or leave harmful chemical residues that prevent the new wood stain from penetrating correctly into the natural pores of the structure.
The FEVI solution
FEVI low-pressure microblasting or eco paint stripping makes it possible to remove old paint layers while respecting the natural grain of the wood, both hardwoods such as oak and chestnut and softwoods such as pine and spruce. The air and inert abrasive jet strips the paint even from the narrowest gaps, leaving the wood clean, evenly sanded and ready to absorb the new painting or wood-staining cycle.

Mistakes to avoid
- Working at high pressures: Wood is a soft material. Working at high pressures risks digging into the softer wood fibres, creating an unpleasant “brushed effect” that is too deep or irregular.
- Using sand or abrasives that are too hard or coarse: High-hardness abrasives, such as corundum, can etch the surface and then require long manual sanding work to restore it.
- Keeping the jet still on the same point: The gun must move smoothly and constantly along the direction of the wood grain to ensure uniform paint stripping without depressions.

Can blasting be carried out directly in place without removing the shutter?
Yes, as shown in our operational video, thanks to the handling and practical configuration of the SABIX 120 it is possible to work directly on shutters mounted on the wall, taking care to protect glass, surrounding walls and hardware with suitable masking.
Does blasting damage or break the adjustable shutter slats?
No, when correctly configured, the jet removes the paint without breaking or deforming the slats, working delicately even in the most complex gaps.
